Nutrition Services: Meals on Wheels

Hot, nutritious, well-balanced
meals delivered to your door! A program for those who are homebound,
age 60 and over, or who are chronically disabled are eligible to
receive meals.
HSI Meals-on-Wheels is a nonprofit service that delivers hot, nutritious
noontime meals Monday through Friday with extra meals available
for weekends. Diabetic or low sodium meals are available upon request.
Our committed volunteers are from the neighborhood, local congregations,
corporations, businesses and schools and they deliver to recipients
living in their area. Along with each meal, volunteers also provide
that special touch of comfort and a daily safety check.
HSI's Senior Dining program provides a hot nutritious noon time
meal that is served at community centers in two locations in the
county and at Circle of Friends Adult Day program. HSI is responsible
for the overall administration of the Meals on Wheels program in
Washington County and Senior Dining in three sites in the county.
Who prepares the meals?
The Nutrition Services food source varies from
program to program; however, most are prepared by catered food service,
local hospitals or restaurants.

Washington County residents who are homebound, age 60 and over,
or who are chronically disabled are eligible to receive meals.
What Is the cost?
The cost
of the meal varies and is based on the recipient's ability to pay.
Client contribution helps fund this program. The Meals-on-Wheels
program is funded through Washington County, private donations,
and the Title III Older Americans Act. Client contributions and
funds made available through MBA/MAAA.

There are 10 neighborhood programs in Washington County where meals are delivered:
Forest Lake / Hugo, Scandia, Marine, Mahtomedi, St. Croix Valley, Lake Elmo,
Oakdale, Woodbury / Newport, Lower St. Croix, So. Washington County.
