Family Treatment Program (FTP)
Provides flexible, culturally competent in-home
and community-based therapy and treatment services that work to build
positive family relational patterns and reduce disruptive behaviors.
The overarching goal of the program is to prevent out of home placement
of children and adolescents when possible, and to reunite children
and adolescents with their families if out of home placements have
taken place. In-home treatment includes 24-hour on-call crisis intervention
service by phone and collaborative treatment by a multi-disciplinary
team of professionals who coordinate services with schools, hospitals,
treatment facilities and other service providers. Clients are children
and adolescents with a severe emotional
disturbance – usually
living in families experiencing multiple stressors and with inadequate
crisis or coping skills to deal with those stressors. Family problems
include emotional, sexual or physical abuse; delinquency; severe
truancy; parenting problems; acting out behaviors in the home, school
or community; and mental/emotional health difficulties that create
problems with day to day functioning. Therapy services are provided
by co-therapy teams working intensively with families for up to six
months.
